Reflecting on Leadership and Continuous Learning

In my career, I’ve always believed that great leadership isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about empowering your team to find the best solutions and grow along the way. Whether it’s through removing blockers, encouraging growth, or staying hands-on to ensure my teams have what they need to succeed, I strive to be present where it matters most.

As I reflect on the evolution of technology and the role I want to play in the future, I’ve been thinking a lot about the importance of continuous learning. As leaders, we should always be sharpening our skills and staying ahead of the curve to guide our teams with up-to-date knowledge and insights.

I’m lucky at my company to have access to Udemy, and I’ve really tried to take advantage of that. Some things I’ve dug into include Enterprise Architecture, Complex System Design, functional programming, AI/ML, and learning how to make the best use of tools like Postman. I’m also validating what I think I know about things like OAuth — shout-out to Zoho CRM and API integrations for that one. I’ve also found it to be a great resource when evaluating systems like Hubspot and Airtable or filling in the gaps of my knowledge about platforms like Zoho CRM and Netsuite.

Right now, I’m focusing on cloud computing, particularly AWS. While I’ve used AWS services for years, I’m challenging myself to ensure my knowledge aligns with best practices and current trends. To kick start this, I’m starting the AWS Cloud Practitioner course as part of my journey toward becoming a certified Solutions Architect. It’s a personal challenge (a “for me” thing) to sharpen my skills and dive deeper into my growing hobby of continuous learning.

I’m excited to see where this journey takes me!
